How It All Began: Chapter 17

Lucy was currently in her room spring cleaning EVERYTHING. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get Blake out of her mind. It just wasn't fair! Why couldn't she and Blake be together? It didn't make any sense! What was so bad about them loving each other? Did it really make that much of a difference from anyone else's love? She sighed. She knew her mind was going crazy again, but she couldn't help it. Then, she heard the front door open. "Ria! Is that you?"
 "Yeah, Mom!"
She got up to go see why on Light City her daughter was doing home instead of at school. When she came down the stairs, she saw Adrienne with her, and it looked as if she had been crying. All thoughts of interrogating her daughter flew from her mind,"Adrienne, are you alright?"
She smiled and sniffed a little,"Yeah, I'm OK."
Lucy wanted to go to her and hug her to make her feel better like she had always done with Ria, but she wasn't sure if she should. What if she got caught? What would that mean for the three of them? And Blake at his home? No. I don't give a poop! She's my daughter no matter whether she grew up without me or not. She's MY Adrienne, and I'm going to treat her like my daughter! And a mother should. She ran down the last three steps and quickly embraced her. Adrienne slightly tensed up, but it wasn't until Lucy had hugged her that she realized how much she had always dreamed of a mother, and how much she had wanted a mother to hug when she was little. She threw her arms around her and couldn't help but cry a little. She didn't understand, she had hardly ever cried when she was little, or when she got a bit older. It wasn't exactly in her nature to just start crying, yet she had done so much of it lately.

I'm such a baby! she thought to herself Quit crying, idiot! Even though she told herself to quit, it only made her sob harder. She decided that just once, she would allow herself to just be in her mother's arms. Just for now.
Lucy patted her on the back and wiped her tears,"Sweetie, what's wrong? What happened?" She was babbling but her words were incoherent and she was sobbing too loudly to be able to say anything. She just decided to give up, and just sat there in Lucy's arms, content to stay there forever. After she had cried for a while, Lucy finally let go of her and smiled,"Why don't you girls go upstairs. I'll make you some cookies."

They ran up the stairs and she went to the kitchen. She let out a long sigh, it was like everything in life was determined to squash her and Blake under the pressure. After meeting Adrienne that time at Blake's house, she was sad. But now, after holding her and helping her, she was too attached. She couldn't just let go of Adrienne so easily! She didn't know what to do, but she knew she had to do something. The girls had both lived for too long without a proper set of parents, and she needed Blake even now more than ever. She snapped her fingers,"That's it! I'll just talk to Blake about it. Wait, no. He'd be completely against that idea... Well, it's been soooo super long that all of that junk happened, I'm sure the Council has forgotten all about it and will think it was so silly! Yes, I'll go talk to the Council!" She smiled as she talked to herself about all the cookies she was going to bake for them.
....................................
Adrienne waved to her mom and Ria as they pulled out of the driveway. Lucy had given her a ride home. She opened the door and yelled,"Dad! I'm home!" sh went to the living room, but he wasn't there. She walked to the kitchen, he wasn't there either. She ran upstairs, but he wasn't in his bedroom. She ran outside and sure enough, there he was cursing his car that wouldn't start. She smiled slightly,"Hey, Dad."
 "Oh, hey Adrienne. How's school?"
 "So-so."
He accidentally connected the wrong wire and shocked himself,"DANG IT!"
She laughed,"What are you doing under there?"
"Trying to get the STUPID car to start!"
"Did you forget to put gas in it again?"
 He dead stopped,"Maybe..."
She just laughed at his silliness,"Oh Dad!" Most people just fly wherever they need to go, so cars aren't really a big deal. She couldn't understand why her dad was trying to start the car anyways. "MK, Well I'm gonna go upstairs. If you need me, call."
"Yeah OK!" was his quick reply.
She smiled and shook her head then ran upstairs. She laid down on her bed and cuddled her stuffed panda. Maybe Ria's right. Should we do something? If we do, we definitely can't tell Mom or Dad. They'd freak! I guess it's up to us now.
