How It All Began Chapter 7

Blake's eyes fell to the floor "Mr. Millet"? he thought sadly. It hurt him deeply that Ria couldn't remember her own father. He knew it wasn't her fault, and he knew that she SHOULDN'T remember him, but the formal words stabbed him straight through the heart.
Shaking his head his hair flew away from his eyes and looked into a pair of eyes so much like his own. "Ria eh? You must be one of Adrienne's friends from school right?"
Ria was slightly taken aback his eyes looked just like hers large and dark. "Ummmm well something like that...." Ria murmured trailing off, staring into his eyes, mesmerized.
Adrienne gave her dad a cocky grin "Yeah we're friends" she said shooting Ria a questioning look. Blake's eyes darted between the two twins.
Adrienne glanced at Ria "C'mon we can talk in my room" she said motioning to the blonde girl who gave her a grateful look.
Adrienne led her up to her room and flopped on the edge of her bed "Sorry about my dad... He's not usually like that. He's just been so... out of it lately. So.....what's up, why'd you come all the way from Light City to talk to me?"
Ria took a deep breath "Well..I didn't know who else to talk to because I certainly couldn't tell Lily and it really freaked me out-" the blonde began rambling and Adrienne shot her a sharp look
"Getting to the point any day soon Ria?"
Ria's dark eyes flashed and she nodded "Yes sorry" she spilled the whole story of her mother waking up screaming and her refusal to talk. Adrienne nodded when suddenly the two girls heard a loud crash outside Adrienne's bedroom window. Both girls leaped to their feet Ria's dark eyes where trained on the window and Adrienne's blue eyes darted around the room. Ria's voice came out a hoarse whisper "I say we open the window together" Adrienne nodded nervously. The pair crept forward and flung the window. Quicker than anyone normal could react the two blasted their magic at whatever was out there only to be greeted by a loud yowl full of pain.
There in front of their eyes sat Jinx Remey his eyes where filled with pain his shirt was peppered with holes from the fire and lightning they struck him with. Ria instantly started shouting her apologies but Adrienne reached forward grabbed Jinx's ear and yanked
"OWOWOWOWOW!!!" he wailed as a furious Adrienne flung him down.
"WHY.WHERE.YOU.SPYING.JINX.REMEY!?" she thundered at the cowering boy.
"I-I-I um well I uh" he stammered trying to think of a clever excuse. Adrienne towered over him glowering.

Jinx backed away cowering, a look of pure horror on his face.
    "I-I'm sorry" he stuttered.
 Adrienne glared down at him.
"You know what fine....but why are you here?"
 Jinx stared at the ground.
"I was gonna ask you something but never mind" getting to his feet the black haired boy slunk out the window. Adrienne sighed and sat down.
Ria tentatively touched her friend's shoulder,
"You where a bit hard on him you know..."
 Adrienne gave a weary nod,
"Yeah I know." she mumbled putting her head in her hands. Adrienne glanced out the window              "You know its getting late and its a long walk back to Light City you wanna just stay here the night?"
 Ria's face lit up,
"Yeah I'd like to, but I don't have my stuff."
Adrienne looked over the blonde sizing her up,
"Ah you could wear my stuff for a day, won't kill anything."
 Ria's dark eyes sparkled,
"This will be so FUN!!" she squealed. Adrienne suppressed a sigh and tossed Ria a frilly pink nightgown she had never touched This. she thought Will be a long night."
                                     ............................................................
Blake and Lucy stood in front of the council like they had before all of their troubles had begun. Lucy was very nervous, whereas Blake seemed as still as stone, and as coolly connected as a river.
The leader stood,"You know why you are here?"
Blake answered,"Because of the problem that I'm still alive." his eyes narrowing into slits.
Lucy squeezed his hand trying to calm him down. He looked perfectly fine, but she could tell that he was seething under his mask.
"Yes. We have allowed you to live, but there is still a problem."
Lucy stared at them, confused,"What? We have already paid the price in full."
"You surely don't think that you will get off like that, right? There are still consequences. We WILL allow Blake Millit to live, but your children will pay the same price as they would have before."
 "But-!"
 "These are the consequences!"
 Blake started,"You can't do that-!"
"Oh yes we can, Mr. Millet!"
He glared at them. All of them. They were treating them like children in a classroom that had disobeyed!
Lucy felt panic rising in her and she felt the back of her eyes sting, and she felt her throat get that choked up feeling,"Isn't there anything that we can do to atone that will let us all live?!" She didn't mean to shout, but she couldn't stand them doing this to her children. Especially after everything Blake went through to keep them all alive, safe, and happy.
 The leader shifted his gaze,"No."
But in that one moment when he hesitated, Blake could tell he was lying,"You're lying!"
Lucy looked at him surprised and slightly terrified at what they might do to him. Some would say that was treason, some would say it was blasphemy and have him killed straight away.
To both of their surprise, the leader sighed,"You could...." he sighed looking at the rest of the council for approval. When they all nodded their heads, he said,"To right the wrong you have committed, you can simply undo your doing."
 They both blinked confused.
"To correctly do this, you must be separated. It is strictly against the law to have the people of Light City mix with the people of  the Night City, so the children will live, but separately. Lucy will go back to live in Light City with her daughter that has light magic powers, and the other one will live with Blake in the Night City."
Lucy and Blake stared at each other. Lucy was about to object, when Blake said,"Fine." and turned to leave. She stood there to stunned to speak, or move, or think.
The leader stood and addressed only Blake,"Remember this, dog." he didn't turn, but he stopped. "If you do anything to rebel against us, we will kill you."
Blake lifted his head and slowly turned. To everyone's surprise, he had a smug, almost amused smile spread out on his face,"Promise?" When his question, almost command, was returned with only a few gasps and wide eyes but silence after, he grinned his perfect white teeth showing and turned. Lucy watched him leave, her eyes wide with terror. Everyone was silent. She slowly turned, bowed to the council, and left behind him.
